Details | About the Speaker Lisa Kanarek is the daughter of Holocaust survivor Joseph Kanarek, M.D. Joseph was born in Plonsk, Poland in 1926. He and his family were confined to the Plonsk Ghetto after the Nazis invaded Poland. They were deported in 1942 to Auschwitz-Birkenau where he was conscripted into forced labor at Buna Concentration Camp. In January 1945, Joseph was forced on a death march to Dora-Mittelbau Concentration Camp. From there, he was liberated by the 101st American Army.
