Date Mon, Oct 3, 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Duration   1h

Join Holocaust Museum Houston for a special presentation by Christina Chavarría, Program Coordinator, Education Initiatives, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, on the experience of Tony Acevedo, a devoted American despite his Mexican heritage discrimination. He was among more than 500,000 Latino men and women who served in the United States military during World War II. Even after he was captured and tortured by the Germans, Tony’s dedication to his fellow soldiers never wavered. He tended to their medical and spiritual needs and risked his life to record their experiences in captivity in a secret diary.

Chavarría will also discuss the roles of Mexican American women in the role of the defense industry and on the home front.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Register here.
