Details | Holocaust survivor Andrew “Andy” Jampoler could not possibly remember the day his mother made the heartbreaking decision to leave him on the steps outside a Catholic church. He was just a baby when his mother and grandmother stood out of sight—waiting and watching to make sure someone took him in. Andy’s family had been on the run in Nazi-occupied Poland ever since the day he had been born in January 1942—hiding their Jewish identity to evade capture and likely death. Discover what happened to Andy and his family after that fateful day outside the church. Speaker Moderator Watch live at youtube.com/ushmm. You don’t need a YouTube account to view our program. After the live broadcast, the recording will be available to watch on demand on the Museum's YouTube page. First Person is a monthly, hour-long discussion with a Holocaust survivor that is made possible through generous support from the Louis Franklin Smith Foundation. Watch live, here. |
