Details | Auschwitz is known to many as the definitive symbol of the Holocaust. However, the town of Oświęcim, Poland, in which the former Nazi killing center is located, has a rich Jewish history of its own that predates the camp. Before the war, Jews made up 60% of the town’s population. Today, there are no Jews living there. Please join us for a presentation with Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation Scholar Maciek Zabierowski and Echoes & Reflections Facilitator Todd Hennessy for an introduction to "The Town Known as Auschwitz" and the significance of the Jewish Community of Oświęcim/Oshpitzin/Auschwitz before the Holocaust and today.
