Details | How can a study of the Holocaust inform teaching and learning about Indigenous genocide? Similarly, how might Indigenous genocide education contribute to an expanded understanding of the Holocaust? Examining similarities and differences between Indigenous genocide and the Holocaust can help us better understand the roles of individuals (such as victims and perpetrators) and organizations, bring attention to cultural genocide, reframe our thinking of genocide as a process rather than an event, and focus attention on transitional justice efforts, including memorialization and education. Join social studies educator Dr. George D. Dalbo for an exploration of where the historical narratives of Indigenous genocide and the Holocaust intersect. Register here. Echoes & Reflections' webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world. |
