Details | “You only have what you give away” Holocaust survivor Itka Zygmuntowicz said. Because of Itka’s gift with language and her perspective as a teenager who survived the Holocaust, her testimony has been an important resource for educators and students. Teaching the human story is one of the most powerful components of impactful Holocaust education. In Echoes & Reflections' new online activities for students, Explore the Past, Shape the Future, they highlight the story of a single survivor, Itka, and take a virtual ‘field trip’ through her hometown of Ciechanow, Poland, to explore early experiences with antisemitism and Nazi terror, to her time in Auschwitz. Register here. Echoes & Reflections' webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world. |
