On the night of October 1–2, 1943, during Rosh HaShanah, the Jewish New Year, German Nazi forces set out to capture more than 7,000 Jews in Denmark and deport them to their deaths. Yet something unexpected happened that almost completely foiled the plan. As a result, approximately 99% of Denmark’s Jewish community survived the Holocaust.

How did this happen? What role did the Jews of Denmark play in their own survival? How did Danish society respond, and what role did the German forces in Denmark themselves play? Join Yiftach Meiri, Yad Vashem educator, to explore these questions and uncover the remarkable story of the rescue of Denmark’s Jews.
