Description:
Our webinars are designed to increase participants’ knowledge of Holocaust history, explore and access classroom-ready content, and support instructional practice to promote student learning and understanding of this complex history and its lasting effect on the world.
Introducing these narratives to primary-age students in age-appropriate ways helps lay an early foundation for empathy, perspective-taking, and moral awareness. Their stories offer educators a powerful entry point for teaching difficult histories, helping students widen their historical lens. Led by USC Shoah Foundation’s Learning and Development Specialist, Raquel Diaz Serralta, this session for upper-primary educators (4th-6th grades) focuses on strategies for teaching difficult histories.
Participants will explore how story, music, and testimony can foster curiosity and compassion while maintaining emotional safety. Drawing on examples from The Willesden Project and informed by the pedagogical framework developed by Echoes & Reflections, the session highlights adaptable classroom practices and digital tools that support reflection, inquiry, and age-appropriate dialogue about resistance, migration, and memory.
This webinar connects to Upper Elementary Resources and Unit 1 on the Echoes & Reflections website.

The only photos that portray the story of the transports that arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau during the summer of 1944 are found in the "Auschwitz Album." Yael Eaglstein, a Yad Vashem educator, will introduce teachers to the use of photographs as historical documents which, together with additional sources such as letters and testimonies, help create a comprehensive view of a historical event; here, the process that led to mass murder at Auschwitz.
This webinar connects to Unit 5 on the Echoes & Reflections website.

Description:
In this continuation of our series that explores communities built by Holocaust survivors around the world, Diana Wang will examine two central questions: How did Jewish survivors come to Argentina, and why did so many of them remain silent about their experiences for decades? This talk will also address the Jewish community that had already existed in Argentina, which will provide context for how the survivor community settled. The country also permitted the immigration of Nazi perpetrators, which created a difficult juxtaposition for the survivor community.
Diana Wang is the daughter of Holocaust survivors. She was born in Poland in 1945 but grew up in Argentina. She is a psychologist who specializes in family therapy. In addition to psychology, she has written books and articles about Holocaust survivors and their descendants. She is a member of the Museo del Holocausto de Buenos Aires (Museum of the Holocaust of Buenos Aires) and member of the Governing Board at the World Federation of Jewish Child Survivors of the Holocaust and Descendants. She also served as Chairwoman of Generaciones de la Shoá en Argentina (Generations of the Shoah in Argentina) from 2004-2018.

In this webinar, Media Historian and Curator Michelle Kelley of the American Archive of Public Broadcasting (AAPB) will provide an overview of the AAPB’s resources related to Jewish American history and culture. These include unedited interviews from documentary productions, as well as public radio and television broadcasts on Jewish American life, many of which are included in the AAPB’s Jewish American Heritage Collection. Michelle will provide information on how to search the site, how to request research access to materials not available online, how to use the AAPB in teaching and research, and more.
The AAPB preserves and makes accessible significant historical content created by public media over the past 70+ years. A collaboration between the Library of Congress and GBH in Boston, the AAPB currently includes over 287,000 items in its digital archive, most of which can be accessed through its website, americanarchive.org.
