  • Description:  Since 1996, Holocaust Museum Houston has been committed to honoring Holocaust survivors’ legacy and ensuring Houston Survivor stories live on in perpetuity. This annual exhibition offers a video introduction of Houston Holocaust Survivors featuring family members’ testimonies and clips of Survivors telling their stories. Family artifacts will also be showcased throughout the exhibition. Register here.

Salvaged Pages: Teaching Young Writers' Diaries in the Classroom   View Event

  • Description:  Alexandra Zapruder, author of Salvaged Pages: Young Writers’ Diaries of the Holocaust will speak about teaching youth diaries as historical and literary records in the classroom. She will describe her research, the diversity and scope of youth diaries from the Holocaust, and the particular significance of adolescent writings. She will offer a framework for thinking about the value of these primary sources for teachers, and will share resources, including those from Echoes & Reflections. Finally, she will discuss her ongoing work to study the writings of young people throughout history and into the present.This webinar connects to the Studying the Holocaust and The Ghettos units on the Echoes & Reflections website.   • Description:  The fact that genocide is never inevitable should inspire hope. But if genocide isn't inevitable and therefore preventable, why does it keep happening? Join The Holocaust Resource Center of Kean University for a discussion with comparative genocide historian Dr. Alexis Herr on Rwanda's path to genocide, social responsibility, and genocide prevention. This free virtual seminar will take place on Wednesday, September 27 at 3:30PM CT via Zoom. The seminar is co-presented by the Holocaust Resource Center of Kean University and the Gross Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Register here.
