  • Description:  This webinar is developed for an educator, university, and community member audience. It is not intended for middle/high school students. Salvaged Pages is a powerful collection of diaries written by young people during the Holocaust, reflecting a vast and diverse range of experiences—some of the writers were refugees, others were hiding or passing as non-Jews, and some were imprisoned in ghettos. In this webinar, the author of Salvaged Pages, Alexandra Zapruder, will share about the book’s history, impact, and value as part of the historical record of the Holocaust, with time for Q&A.   • Description:  Free Event for Educators, Students, & Community Members Chhange's August Virtual Lunch & Learn, LGBT Experiences during the Holocaust, explores the laws, events, and people that exist at the intersection of Queer Studies and Holocaust history. This Lunch & Learn will help prepare New Jersey educators who will implement the Inclusive Curriculum Mandate this fall. Chhange's Program Manager, Nicole Rizzuto, will lead this Lunch & Learn, which includes an explanation of Paragraph 175, personal histories of homosexual victims and survivors of the Holocaust, Alan Turing's contributions to science and technology, and the homophobic conditions under which queer Americans served during World War II. 1 hour of Professional Development provided. Reconsidering the Catholic Church and the Holocaust   View Event

  • Description:  Since the Vatican opened its post-1939 closed archives earlier this year, historians are gaining new insight into how one of the world’s most influential institutions, the Catholic Church, confronted—or failed to confront—the Nazi regime, particularly its persecution of Jews. Holy Silence, a thought-provoking and timely new documentary, examines the role of Vatican and U.S. leaders in shaping the Church’s response to the rising Nazi threat and antisemitism spreading across Europe. This webinar features We Share The Same Sky, USC Shoah Foundation’s first podcast, which tells the personal story of a granddaughter’s decade-long journey to retrace her grandmother’s story of survival and the impact it has on her understanding of self and the present world. Rachael Cerrotti, the podcast producer and host, will lead a conversation about her story, the podcast, and its application in today’s classroom environment. Register here.
