It is not intended for K-12 students.This webinar, focused on the topic of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust, provides educators with instructional strategies and tips from Echoes & Reflections and the Jewish Partisans Educational Foundation (JPEF) to promote student learning about this topic. During this webinar, facilitators will highlight classroom resources to expand students’ thinking about how Jewish victims of the Holocaust fought back against the Nazis, including the spectrum of possible responses to genocide and other forms of aggression – from spiritual to non-violent to armed resistance. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the Resistance Matrix, a tool for analyzing and brainstorming solutions to conflict.Register here.

  • Description:  Please join the Holocaust Center for Humanity on Tuesday, August 11th, for an important presentation on the Uyghurs in China with Association of Holocaust Organizations (AHO) member Dr. Ellen Kennedy, World Without Genocide.The Uyghurs, a Turkic Muslim minority in western China, are being persecuted by the Chinese government with practices that governments, human rights leaders, and experts are labeling as ‘genocide.’ These actions include the use of sophisticated artificial intelligence to round up and incarcerate more than a million Uyghurs in concentration-camp-like facilities; forced sterilization of women; harvesting of body organs; mass disappearances; and the destruction of Uyghur language, culture, practice, and community. Learn about the economic and political reasons at the heart of the crisis and efforts to hold the government of China accountable for perpetrating genocide against this vulnerable Muslim minority population. Ellen J. Kennedy, Ph.D., is the founder and Executive Director of World Without Genocide, located at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, St. Paul, MN. The organization provides education about past and current conflicts and advocacy at local, state, and national levels for policies and legislation that promote peace and justice.   • Description:  Jewish comedian Robert Clary, who was imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp and later acted in the 1960s sitcom Hogan’s Heroes, says that making people laugh during the Holocaust saved his life. Humor helped some people cope with atrocious conditions in ghettos and concentration camps as they suffered under Nazi brutality. It served as a form of protest and a way to maintain dignity in the most undignified of circumstances.
