Description:
The ANU Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv has a new exhibit, October Seventh, examining how Israeli culture reacts to war.
The exhibition curates works by 25 Israeli artists whose creative activity reflects the atrocious times Israeli society is facing since October 7th. Some of them are living artists, some deceased – either murdered on October 7th or died during the ongoing war, while others are residents (or former residents) of the southern areas, who suffered the loss of their loved ones, their homes, or whose families were affected by the horrors of the massacre. Some of the art work can be found here.

Description:
For survivors, their life is forever divided—before the Holocaust and after. Many lost family, friends, and entire communities. They also mourn their stolen youth and dreams for the future.
Long after the war ended, the physical and psychological stresses followed them. It took decades for some survivors to speak about what they endured. Some never did.
By their very presence, survivors exist in defiance of those who attempted to wipe them out, but their lives would never be the same. Join us on World Mental Health Day to hear how some survivors have managed to live with their ever-present trauma.
GuestDr. Margaret Polizos Peterson, Facilitator, Echoes of Memory, the writing workshop for Holocaust survivors who volunteer at the Museum; Executive Director, Maryland Initiative for Literacy and Equity
HostDr. Edna Friedberg, Historian, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

Description:
As a high school student in Philadelphia, Lucy Taus Katz became a voice for the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. When Lucy’s English teacher encouraged her to enter an essay competition entitled “Why I Am Proud to Be an American,” she wrote about her experience as a Hidden Child during the Nazi occupation in Poland. Since that time, Lucy has been speaking throughout the country at middle schools, high schools, universities, and military bases. Her mission is to educate students, their parents, and the greater community about the Holocaust and genocide. She strives to inspire everyone with a sense of responsibility to uphold human value and to prevent future atrocities.
Although busy with a career in home building and remodeling, in years past Lucy has chaired numerous Yom HaShoah programs, bringing the Jewish and non-Jewish communities together. She is a founding member of The Descendants of Holocaust Survivors in Central Texas, lifetime director of the Texas Association of Homebuilders and the National Association of Homebuilders, and past president of both the National Association of Remodelers Industry and the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Lucy attended Temple University in Philadelphia. She resides in Austin, Texas.

Description:
Join Holocaust Museum LA for this online talk by Dr. Raul Artal-Mittelmark, who will explore the role of physicians and nurses during the Holocaust, as well as the origins of informed consent.
Dr. Raul Artal-Mittelmark was born in 1943 in a Nazi concentration camp in Transnistria. His birth was very difficult, but a physician in the camp was able to help and save both Raul's life and his mother's life. After the camp was liberated, his parents returned to their hometown of Czernowitz, which had fallen under Communist rule. Despite difficulties and many attempts to leave the Soviet Union, they eventually moved to Romania, the United States and finally Israel. His complicated birth inspired him to become an obstetrician and specialize in high-risk pregnancies. While in medical school in Israel, Raul met his wife. The two settled in St. Louis, Missouri, where he eventually served as chairman of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health at St. Louis University.
