Heather Klein, a well-known Yiddish vocalist, will travel to Dallas with her collaborators to share her grandmother’s compelling immigration story through song.
Love, detainment and a lie.
With $2.50 in her pocket, Rosa Ginsberg left her family behind in Shanghai, China, in 1940 for an uncertain future in the United States. The 18-year-old native of Vienna landed at Angel Island in San Francisco Bay, site of a U.S. immigration station that processed hundreds of thousands of immigrants from 1910 through 1940. She left Angel Island for the mainland on the basis of a mostly true story.

With the opening of the Vatican Archives, new information continues to be uncovered of the role the Catholic Church played in protecting Christians, rescuing Jews, and appeasing the Nazis during the Second World War. Using the famous Christmas Message of 1942 by Pope Pius XII as a guide, join Jesse Tannetta, Director of Holocaust Content & Pedagogy, to examine the role of the Church during the Holocaust to empower students to reflect on the connection between faith, morals, and action.

Workshops
-
Location:
12500 NW Military Highway San Antonio, Texas 78231
-
Description:
HMMSA is excited to offer an in-person free workshop this year in preparation for Texas Holocaust Remembrance Week. Educators are invited to join us in critically analyzing the survivor testimony of Rose Williams to create a snapshot moment using reading, history, science, math, and art! This workshop brings together all corners of the campus to create a visual storytelling animation of a pivotal moment in Rose's testimony.
Educators who attend will leave with the tools, template, and most important, hands-on experience, in creating animated visual stories to confidently implement in their own classrooms or with the help of other departments on campus. All supplies for the workshop are included but are easy to replicate utilizing materials you can find in or around the classroom.
Join at:
The Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio
